Preparation of tetraethoxysilane for the production of monodisperse spherical silica particles. Part 2. Impurities and their influence on the size of the forming globules

Monodisperse spherical silica particles, as a basis for creating supramolecular 3D matrices, are currently of increasing interest due to the prospects their wide application in synthesis new nanocomposite materials. At same time, one main problems large-scale is associated with unstable behavior tetraethoxysilane (TEOS) during hydrolysis, which leads both deviation particles from given size and shape one. In this paper, on study various manufacturers, we continued work determining factors that can influence process hydrolysis and, result, monodispersity formed also other factors. To solve task, all TEOS samples were studied by physicochemical methods analysis, including Fourier IR Raman spectroscopy, gas chromatography-mass spectrometry. As result studies, showed presence di- trisiloxanes system did not significantly affect while accelerating rate formation spheres. Moreover, methoxyl groups initial silane, an insignificant content ethanol stability particles. replacement part ethoxy methyl or ethyl groups, they capable participating reaction, largely contribute sizes each other.
